Dynamic Island
While a block runs, the time left sits at the top of whatever you are doing. Press and hold for the controls.
What you see
- Compact: the task’s own icon in its colour, and the time left
- Expanded: the task’s name, progress and the three controls
- For a break you take on an Ask-first app, just a countdown: a ring and the time left
- A timer for an app you opened, when you have set up its automations

Questions
Which iPhones show it?
iPhones with a Dynamic Island (iPhone 14 Pro and later), on iOS 16.4 or later. Other iPhones show the same block on the Lock Screen.
What does the island show?
The task’s own icon in its colour and the time left. Press and hold it for the task’s name, a progress bar and Pause, +5 min and Finish.
Does it show breaks too?
Yes. When you take a few minutes on an app you set to Ask first, the island shows a countdown: a ring and the time left, nothing else.
